4. Reflection

1. Experience

It was certainly challenging, tiring, and took so much time to do, even so, I had a lot of fun doin it. This module I think has the most directed learning progress so far. It forced us to explore and experiment on our own with a set of rules, and a consistent format of the final result too. Every time I do a task in this module I know that I'm going to get something out of it, for as long as we ask for feedback of course. like there's a guarantee, that our work is going to look good as long as we work hard for it. Maybe it's because I had a typography module before, maybe it's because typography is not inherently hard to do, just needs dedicated time and effort. Nevertheless, thank you to Mr that have guided us along this module, really appreciated the feedback too.

2. Observation

Often times I feel like my design is too simple or too bland, not enough flourish or style compared to my peers. I've tried to make a stylish design but, every time I ask Mr Vinod or my peers, the simplistic design looks better than my stylish ones. Propobly because I put more effort into it than the simple one I feel hung up on it. Maybe my natural preference for design is just really simple and straightforward, but I do wish to be well-versed in stylish design in the future. Really the simple one took like 3 minutes and the stylish design took half an hour, still thinking where is it because I don't do enough research to do a more elaborate design or just my natural preference is like that, they're usually the first design too.

3. Findings

After 2 semesters, finally, I feel like I'm getting the hang of the workload, and managing my time better, it's still not ideal, but it's better. Always use references, do not plagiarize them, but analyze them and then implement them in the design. Do a lot of research on the design first. Need to make actual solid sketches before jumping into digitalizing. Please be realistic, don't set the expectations too high. Prepare a large amount of space to accommodate your designs. make sure the color palettes are balanced across the artwork.
