LECTURE

Week 3 - F2F Class (Oct 12, 2023)

We got make our composotion from the materials that we prepared before hand. We have to make 3 compositions and have one of them approved by the lecturer. 

TUTORIAL & PRACTICAL 

Physical College Design (10%).

The aim is to develop a theme/idea with layers of images with design principles, as well as familiar with the fundamental of composition.

You are required to capture screenshots to demonstrate a step-by-step progression as to how the visuals are produced (at least 10 steps) and compile it in a PORTFOLIO PDF. This should be modelled after a Photoshop/Illustrator tutorial (examples to be provided).

We are required to make 3 collage sketches from any media such as magazines or newspapers.

Concept : A perspective on life on the bad and the good. The loss of a loved one who feels like home, how you remember their favorite flowers and candle scent. But life still goes on anyway and you're grateful for the memories you make with them. Even if one day youre old and forget their face, the smell of their favorite flower reminds you of home.

Concept : The journey of getting to know yourselves, where you are free and lonely. seeing the many colors of the world and using it to paint your soul. Wierd, jagged, ripped, and mismatch, but somehow its beautiful. Because that is what we are, a collage of everyone we ever met and everything we ever experience.

Concept : Life seemed like a long line of heart beats, it's goes up and down, people come and leave, flowers bloom and whiter, theres rain and then rainbow. And life is beautiful because of it, we cherised the memories of porple we no longer see, we smile at the flowers on the side of the road even if they no longer there tomorrow, we are okay with rain because we knoe there's a rainbow at the end of it. Whatever happens we continue living.

Composition #2 is the one approves as the final artwork.

REFLECTION

1 Experience

We need to make 3 compositions that I have planned the night before. So it was just a matter of putting it back together and after one was approved by Mr Fauzi as the final artwork. I glue together all three of the compositions. I also got to watch other collage designs, some very complicated, some very simple with only a few pictures.

2 Observations

I was lucky that I spent that day before, composing the collage because some of the others there did not they barely had time to make 3 compositions to be approved and then glue them together. In theory, I know to glue the background first the things on top, but due to the many layers I did, I forgot which should go first and some of the materials had to be replaced.

3 Findings

the composition needs to have the primary subject that the eye immediately goes to see first, usually the biggest picture or the words. The other pictures are supposed to surround or elevate it.
